Arcadia Lake Trails Project

The Arcadia Lake Trail has a rich history, starting with the construction of the lake itself.  The lake was created by an earthen dam on the Deep Fork River, which began construction in 1980 and became operational in 1986.  The lake was constructed as a cooperative effort between the City of Edmond and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with the aim of controlling flooding int he Deep Fork River Basin and providing recreational resource to the surrounding communities.  The lake's surface area is 1, 820 acres, with about 26 miles of shoreline, and it has been a significant part of the area's recreational landscape ever since its opening.

The design, construction and continuing evolution of the Arcadia Lake Trail is a testament to the community's commitment to outdoor activities and environmental education.  It has been a key feature of the lake's recreational offerings, providing a space for hiking, biking, and other outdoor pursuits.  The trail's history is intertwined with the lake's development, reflecting the community's desire to connect with nature and share the benefits of outdoor activities with others.
